How will your child advance through Junior Dragons

At the end of each class, your child may be rewarded with a coloured skill stripe for developing that skill. Your child must earn all eight different coloured skill stripes in order to qualify to advance to the next level. Stars are awarded when a Junior has repeated a skill and passed. A Junior with all eight coloured skill stripes will perform at the Black Dragon Kai Junior Dragons Belt Promotion to be held every school term. Although stars are not required to progress and grade, having one or more stars serves as recognition when a Junior excels.

The Black Dragon Kai Junior Dragons Belt Promotion gives your child the opportunity to show the instructors and parents how developed each skill has become. A panel of judges will be evaluating each Junior to monitor his or her progress. After the performance, an awards ceremony is held to reward the Juniors with their new rank. Their rank advancement gives your child a new challenge for each skill. Your child again begins to collect the coloured skill stripes as they set their goal for the next belt performance. This keeps the program exciting and challenging. Your child should learn how to set goals and achieve them by accomplishing their new ranks.

Junior Dragon instructors monitor your child's progress by his or her coloured skill stripes and this book. Make sure your child is consistent with his or her attendance so that he or she earns each coloured skill stripe before the Black Dragon Kai Junior Dragons Belt Performance, doing this will also avoid excess time at each rank and prevent boredom.

If your child has difficulty with a specific skill, the instructor may ask you to use this book and work with him or her at home to improve the skill. Homework assignments are provided to help your child be the best he or she can be. Our goal is to thoroughly develop the eight skills in the Junior Dragons Program. With your help, your child should learn and grow with commitment and dedication to excellence in everything that he or she does.
